“Tis better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.”
Death surrounds us, lurking in the shadows, awaiting the slightest relaxation, the smallest misstep. Yet for the cunning and foolish alike, death offers its cold embrace. Death’s beauty lies within its inevitability and irreversibility for those who are not Deori’s chosen.
As the Mistress of the Underworld, I endeavour to increase Death’s presence within the lands. Disrespect will not go unpunished.
My militant temple is composed of mortal minions, who will work as one to achieve my goal of overwhelming the Overworld, piece by piece, hour by hour. For every creature reaped by my temple members, a soul is captured and preserved for later use — perhaps as a soldier in our armies, or to feed our demons, or to fuel our magical rituals. While I delight in the slaughter of powerful creatures, I urge my templars to minimize their own deaths… for the death of a templar only slows the achieving of my goals.
I have partitioned my temple into two pathways, starting at the third rank. Members may undergo an elaborate, soul-sacrificing ritual and become demons, or members may retain their souls and previous form. Neither rank is preferred; rather, I expect templars to choose based on what best suits their nature. The details of each pathway are explored in a separate scroll.
Because of my rapacious appetite for souls, I also seek to extinguish the indulgent usage of the resurrection spell. The spiritual nature of resurrection requires the destruction of souls, reducing my available supply. I do tolerate the use of resurrections in our lower-ranked members (who may be young and still struggling to master their environment). However, I insist that all members of a demonic nature or of the Fiend rank and higher pay a visit to Naria rather than waste my precious resource.
Those who are faint of heart, or who are weak of mind and body, must not apply. We murder without pause. Many of us bear the blood of innocents on our hands. Those of higher rank perform gruesome rituals of sacrifice and dark magic. And upon dying, we part with our own precious experience for the sake of the temple’s relentless mission.
Heed this warning: I shall overrun the land of the living, crushing all who struggle against my mighty power. There shall be no mercy. Death will rule the conquered world.”is better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.”
